The last several weeks the Revolution have been playing absolutely great soccer. Their play in the Santa Clara Rotary Cup was no exception. In the last 9 games the Revolution has won 8 games (7 by shutout) and lost just 1 game. They have scored 31 goals during this span and they have only allowed their opponents to score 3 goals. Unfortunately, the team was a little bit short handed in Santa Clara. Mitch Arredondo, Justin Singh, Marwan Rayyan, and Andrew Gutierrez were unable to go to the tournament.
Even though the team was missing some key players, it did not show on the field. The semi final match was an epic with both teams making it extremely difficult to get any shots off. The Revolution finally scored late in the game to get the 1 to 0 victory. The winning goal was a superb cross into the box from Dylan Wakefield and a diving header from about 12 yards by Braden Henderson. That goal should have made ESPN's top 5 plays of the day. It was spectacular. Unfortunately, the semi final took a lot of energy out of the guys and they lost in the final 2 to 1. Overall weekend was great fun and the guys played outstanding soccer.
